An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 6 Specialist Occupational Therapist to join an established Occupational Therapy Team based at Monkwearmouth Hospital. The post holder will be part of a newly established Occupational Therapy Service working into our specialist learning disability in-patient facility in Hebburn. We have recently recruited a Band 5 Occupational Therapist and a Band 4 Occupational Therapy Assistant Practitioner to support the provision of assessments and interventions.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be operationally managed by an experienced Band 7 Occupational Therapy Lead, receiving regular clinical and professional supervision and will be actively encouraged to participate in Trust wide clinical support forums.

We are looking for a Band 6 Specialist Practitioner, with post registration experience, who preferably has clinical experience and an active interest in working with people with learning disabilities and autism. Sensory experience/qualification is desirable, however there will be a commitment to supporting the successful candidate to complete their sensory training should they not possess this qualification already. Specialist clinical and sensory support and supervision will be provided to the successful candidate.

The post requires someone who is dedicated, flexible and committed. The post holder will be clinically confident and have a collaborative and enthusiastic approach.
