Within this role, you will provide assessment and treatment of occupational needs on an acute ward, under the supervision of a senior OT. You will also have the support of an Occupational Therapy Assistant and/ Activity Coordinator, who will provide therapeutic interventions and meaningful activity engagement for each patient. Main duties of the job
As part of a multi-disciplinary team, you will provide assessment and treatment of occupational dysfunction under the supervision of a more senior Occupational Therapist. An integral part of this role will be supervising others, with a focus on supporting student education within the team. This role includes opportunities for learning, development and research, supported by a robust appraisal and supervision structure based on RCOTs Career Development Framework.

is our 27 bed mental health facility for women with complex mental health needs. The hospital meets the latest national specifications for improving mental health within a therapeutic environment. Situated amongst the soft fields and meadows of the Tyne valley, which is known for its abbey, leafy parks, and mix of independent shops, the hospital provides an important and much-needed service for service users within the North East of England. As part of our continued efforts to improve service users care and treatment pathways the hospital benefits from a highly experienced team of mental health professionals and support staff, which include nurses across RMN and RGN disciplines, occupational therapists, consultant psychiatrists, psychologists, activity coordinators and support workers.
With a full MDT, 1 other Occupational Therapist and x4 Activity coordinators on site you will be part of a large team to support vulnerable people achieve a successful and safe discharge.Occupational Therapy Directorate
Under the leadership of our occupational therapy directors we support over 150 Occupational Therapists. Working together as a large team we provide support to each other across the group, with the opportunity to be part of specialist interest groups & become involved in service development.
Every service line has a clinical lead occupational therapist to lead and develop evidence based practice and agreed occupational therapy pathway.
