Band 8A/8B Deputy Head of Nuclear Medicine
For appointment at Band 8B, the successful applicant will be on the list of MPEs, will have substantial experience in Nuclear Medicine.
For appointment at Band 8A, the successful applicant will be a registered Clinical Scientist and either be listed as an MPE or be in the process of attaining MPE status, with good experience in Nuclear Medicine.
Nuclear Medicine is part of the Medical Physics and Clinical Engineering (MPCE) Department within the Berkshire Cancer Centre.
We have excellent links with Reading University, where teaching and research opportunities abound.
You should be a Medical Physics Expert, with extensive experience in clinical nuclear medicine.
There will be considerable involvement in all aspects of the clinical service as well as radiation protection applications for Nuclear Medicine.
There will be opportunities to study for a higher qualifications.
The post holder will be encouraged to maintain professional and research links with other centres.
There will be significant involvement in the training of Clinical and Healthcare Scientists as they pass through the section, and of other staff.
MPCE is involved in numerous outreach programmes to increase awareness of science in the population and particularly in schools and colleges.
Main duties of the job
To assist the Head of Section in the provision of a high quality Nuclear Medicine service including determining, controlling and maintaining the scientific standards associated with this imaging service and other in-vivo radioisotope investigations and treatments.
To deputise for the Head of section as appropriate. The post-holder will be required to act as MPE in the absence of the head of section.
