The Staff Nurse will provide nursing care to all groups of patients who attend the Paediatric ED under the supervision and guidance of Senior Nursing staff. He/she will achieve specific objectives set togetherwith his/her mentor. This care will be centred around providing the best possible outcome for patients involving them in all aspects of their care.
The staff nurse within the specialist setting of the paediatric ED will:
1. Develop knowledge and skills using a competency based framework
2. Adhere to Trust policy and ensure evidence based care.
3. Sustain a high level of professionalism and work within the team to meet the needs of the service.
4. Liaise closely with parents and carers and all members of the multidisciplinary team to ensure effective communication and care

We are looking for enthusiastic Band 5 Children's nurses with a passion for child centred care to join our friendly team in ED. The applicant should have excellent communication and organizational skills and the ability to work in a fast moving environment. You will be responsible for ensuring the delivery of safe and effective care to our service users and in guiding and supporting families whilst providing this care.
We have a dedicated Paediatric Emergency Department and a newly built Children's Resuscitation Bay and Urgent Treatment Centre. The Paediatric Emergency Department sees approximately 29,000 children per year.
Our Practice Development Nurse, ED Senior Sister and Paediatric ED Matron will support and encourage you to develop both clinically and managerially and offer a comprehensive induction programme, preceptorship, teaching sessions and in-house training. We run paediatric simulations regularly, led by Consultants in the resus bay in ED. We also have an ED Resus Team who will support you in resus scenarios.
Applicant must be flexible in shift working pattern to include weekday, night and weekend.
