The specialist division of Barnet, Enfield and Haringey NHS trust is currently recruiting a 0.5 WTE Consultant Clinical or Forensic Psychologist to join a team of psychologists delivering psychology leadership within the Health in Justice service. If you are interested in and have experience of planning and developing innovative, trauma-informed services, this is your opportunity to advance your career in a well-established forensic service which provides a wide range of forensic mental health services within the criminal justice system.
The role involves working closely with the senior service lead and consultant psychology leads to offer strategic oversight to HMP Brixton, Heathrow Immigration Removal Centre and support to substance misuse services. The role will also involve supporting the development of bids and business cases in order to expand the service.
The North London Forensic Service places a high value on the provision of trauma informed care across the service and conducts a range of QI and research projects to help our learning and processes. You will have a strong track record of delivering services within forensic mental health and of supporting staff to deliver excellent care. There are a range of training and CPD opportunities available for you to further develop your skills.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will work with the senior service lead, head of therapies and psychology leads within each service to provide strategic oversight and professional leadership and management of the psychology provision to HMP Brixton, Heathrow Immigration Centre and support to Substance Misuse Services. The post holder would also be involved in the development of new services.
The postholder will support the psychology leads in ensuring the systematic provision of a high-quality psychological therapies service. The post holder will be involved in recruitment, retention, management, supervision and training of staff within these services and ensuring that quality and performance outcomes are met. The ethos of the service is based on recovery and enablement with a focus on individual service user needs. This post requires a high level of written and verbal communication skills as well as an ability to engage well with stakeholders including commissioners, staff, patients, and their families, often conveying complex or sensitive information.

- Doctoral level training as Clinical psychologist or Masters or doctoral level training for forensic or counselling psychology with all competencies completed.
- Registration with HCPC
