We are looking for a Speech and language Therapist (SLT) to provide community rehabilitation for adults with acquired communication and swallowing disorders due to long term neurological conditions providing evidence based assessment and treatment, working alongside other members in the multi-disciplinary team to provide an effective and efficient rehabilitation service.
To provide specialist SLT in outpatient and domiciliary settings to patients with a variety communication and swallowing disorders.
To provide specialist knowledge, training, advice and support to colleagues, patients and their carers about communication and swallow disorders.
To provide leadership, training, supervision and appraisal for more junior staff.
To work collaboratively with the inpatient speech therapy service in Dudley to ensure a seamless transition of care. To be involved in evaluation and audits to help develop DRS and the speech therapy provision in Dudley.
To be an independent practitioner managing a caseload of patients including those with complex needs, carrying out assessments, therapy, and evaluation of interventions.
Main duties of the job
To provide an effective and efficient speech and language therapy service to a caseload of clients who have a neurological condition, including those with complex needs in a variety of settings. Duties will include assessment, diagnosis, therapy (both group and/or individual as appropriate), planning therapy programmes and discharge of patients
