The Deputy Director of Operations is accountable for the strategic development and delivery of operational strategy and objectives.

Corporate responsibility to oversee the management delivery of Operations, and the strategic, operational and budgetary control of A& E & EOC response and all category 1 response duties under the Civil Contingencies Act.

Responsible for all operational areas and accountable for approximately 3,000 staff and the operational budget of �150m. Accountable day to day for the delivery of the service providing expert knowledge , skills & leadership expertise in a fast paced environment.

Delivery of a high quality service which meets all aspects of commissioner key performance targets, Government performance targets, Clinical Quality Indicators and Trust Key Performance Indicators through effective and efficient management of resources, and visible and inclusive leadership.

Key responsibilities / accountabilities include
  • Senior operational lead in developing relationships with Trade Unions to support operational change and improve services for patients
  • Member of the Senior Management Team and lead senior manager for operational developments & improvement and the operational transformation programme working with the Trust Executive Team

Leads on strategic regional initiatives collaborating, contributing and influencing national programmes that support improvements in resilience and a coordinated response to regional and national emergencies.

About us

The role will be responsible for the key areas within Operations including the 5 Divisions, Derbyshire, Leicestershire, Lincolnshire, Northamptonshire and Nottinghamshire and the Emergency Operations Centres.

You will be responsible for all operational areas and accountable for approximately 3,000 staff and the operational budget of �150m.

Person Specification

Essential

Essential

  • Professional knowledge acquired through a Masters Degree (MSc) or MBA level or equivalent supplemented by specialist training through a relevant professional qualification where appropriate or equivalent experience
  • Extensive knowledge across the following disciplines: oStrategic Commander oMarauding Terrorist Attack oCBRNE2 oOperational Strategy, services, resources and performance
  • Highly developed specialist knowledge of operational based services underpinned by theory and experience
  • Experience of chairing meetings and delivering presentations / proposals to Executives
  • Evidence of leading significant organisational change to improve services and outcomes for staff and service users


Desirable

  • Ambulance service experience - working in an operational or EOC role
  • Leading large teams and managing in a 24/7 business
  • Leading regional / national projects / work
  • Executive team / Board level exposure / experience
  • Up to date professional registration e.g. HCPC, NMC, CMI
