This is an exciting time to join our Crisis Resolution Home Treatment team as we embark on transformation of our urgent care services across the Black Country.
We are looking for a Senior Occupational Therapist to join our friendly multi-disciplinary team. If you have a passion for working within a recovery framework with working age adults who have a range of mental health needs then this is the role for you.
You will use your skills as an Occupational Therapist to deliver interventions based on occupational needs, using evidence based and client centred practice to assess, plan, implement and evaluate outcomes and interventions to adults with moderate and complex mental health needs within the Walsall locality.
You will be a well respected senior member of a multidisciplinary team, providing advice to the multidisciplinary team as required. The multidisciplinary team consists of nurses, support workers, admin staff, medical secretaries, psychiatrists and a psychologist.
You will be supported in your professional development and we welcome discussions around your professional aspirations. The role of occupational therapy in the team is relatively new and there is scope for you to develop and shape what this can look like within a CRHT function.
Main duties of the job
You will be responsible for taking a lead professional role whilst supporting working age adults with mental health and/or cognitive needs. Following assessment of occupational therapy needs, you will formulate individualised and client centred care plans and treatment to address occupational needs.
Using evidenced based tools and professional skills to deliver a specialised programme of care based upon the Model of Human Occupation (MOHO).
To deliver occupational therapy interventions in a variety of community environments, including the persons own home and our therapeutic Greenspaces to support recovery outcomes and quality of life measures.
Believing in an holistic approach to health and wellbeing, you will use your clinical understanding and knowledge of the effect of disability, mental health complexities, and physical health needs to recommend adaptations to the service user's physical and social environment.
You will be expected to assess and undertake risk assessments and identify risk management plans/strategies, relapse prevention and client centred safety plans in order to minimise risks to self and promote hope and empowerment as a part of recovery focused and patient centred care.
You will value working in collaboration with people and their families in agreeing occupation and recovery focused goals to meet complex health and wellbeing needs and manage risk within the context of their care, offering practical support, education and advice as required.
About us
You will be welcomed by a well established and respected urgent care Crisis Resolution Home Treatment Team. This includes working alongside the team manager, clinical nursing leads, CPN's, psychologist, support time and recovery workers and psychiatrists.
This is a supportive and friendly team who want to support your clinical and professional development. This will be achieved through regular individual clinical and peer based supervision in addition to line management supervision. You will have access to wider professional support from community and inpatient Occupational Therapists.
You will have access to a range of mandatory and non-mandatory training opportunities to support your professional development, this includes annual personal development conversations that focus on your unique professional needs.
