We are delighted to offer an exciting new opportunity to work as a Specialty Doctor in the Andover community mental health team for the Mid and North Hampshire area.

You would be working with a fun, compassionate team that deliver high quality care to people experiencing mental illness. The team are highly skilled and offer a wide range of NICE-approved interventions. The team is based at the CMHT base in Andover.

This is a 6 months fixed-term contract which has arisen due to a junior doctor gap. There is flexibility to work whole or split days, and this can be agreed in consultation with the clinical teams.

Main duties of the job

This post is for a full time 10 PA (or job share) Specialty Doctor in Psychiatry in the Andover General Adult Community Mental Health Team.

The Andover CMHT is led by a Band 8 service Manager Mandy James with support from two nursing team leads John Smith and Michelle Taylor. There are 6 CPNs and 2 support workers that provide regular patient support and contact on a daily basis as well as run the depot and clozapine clinics. Medical staff include 3 Consultant Psychiatrist 0.6WTE, 0.7 WTE and 0.7WTE as well as a GP VTS trainee. The post holder will receive regular supervision from a named Consultant Psychiatrist. There is robust psychological therapy service, with colleagues, including CBT, DBT, EMDR therapists led by a Band 8 Psychologist.

This post would be for 10 sessions, 7.5 DCC and 2.5 SPA, time table to be agreed at appointment. A sample work week would include attendance at the team Multidisciplinary meeting, scheduled Outpatient clinics, community visits and supporting colleagues with clinical queries related to the allocated patch.

The post holder will have access to a shared office and be provided with the required IT and administrative support. Our admin and reception staff are the backbone of the service and include our Admin manager Hayley Jeen, three administrative staff and a receptionist.

Essential

  • Recognised basic Medical Degree
  • Full GMC Registration with license to practice
  • 4 years post graduate training since first obtaining registration including adequate experience in the specialty OR shall have obtained experience and competencies
