The post holder will provide a specialist psychological service to clients and staff within the clinical team to which the post-holder is attached, across all sectors of care.

Slough is the second largest town in Berkshire and is within the Greater London Urban Area. The A4, M4, M40 and M25 are all easily accessible making travel to and from very straightforward. Links to the centre of London are excellent with four trains an hour to Paddington, fast trains taking only 18 mins.

Main duties of the job

The successful post-holder will be able to:

• To communicate specialised, complex and sensitive 'condition' information and advice to service users, carers and professionals, including information about problem formulation, and to find ways of enabling the information to be understood by patients who may be anxious and/or hostile providing empathy and reassurance.

• To ensure services are delivered in a manner that is appropriate, relevant and respectful to all community members, recognizing the diversity of ethnicity, culture, belief, privilege and capacity of service users and carers.

• Provide specialist advice and consultation to other professionals / individuals / groups / committees across Mental Health Trusts and other agencies regarding service matters related to the practice and delivery of specific agreed therapeutic modalities and service provision.

• To allocate work (where agreed) and provide the day-to-day supervision and direction of less experienced staff and students as allocated by the Consultant Psychologist.
