An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced pharmacy technician to join the pharmacy team at Harefield Hospital. In this post, you will lead and manage the ward-based Medicines Optimisation Pharmacy Technician service including responsibility for innovating and implementing service development initiatives. We are looking for a highly motivated and organised technician with strong leadership skills to develop the service and take it to the next level. You will be responsible for managing, supporting, and facilitating the professional development of a team of medicines optimisation pharmacy technicians and assistants. We are looking for someone who will continue to stimulate pharmacy technician-led practice research. You must be a qualified Pharmacy Technician, registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council with proven relevant experience in hospital pharmacy. You must be accredited in Medicines Optimisation for Pharmacy Technicians or equivalent and experience in ward-based Medicines Optimisation is essential.
Main duties of the job
To lead and manage the ward-based Medicines Optimisation Pharmacy Technician (MOPT's) service including responsibility for innovating and implementing service development initiatives, personal development and performance reviews of managed staff at Harefield Hospital.
Responsible for the day-to-day management of ward-based pharmacy technician led medicines optimisation services, leading and motivating staff, ensuring that they actively and effectively contribute to the aims of the service, and that a standardised approach is adopted across the service.
To lead the development and provision of ward and clinic-based medicines optimisation services including, but not limited to: management of ward stock, medicines reconciliation, reuse of patients' own medicines, medicines supply, patient self-administration of medicine (SAM) schemes, patient education on medicines and the transfer of care around medicines.

- BTEC or NVQ3 in Phamaceutical Science
- Registered with General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC)
- Accredited Checking Technician Qualification
- Accreditation in Medicines Optimisation of Management for Pharmacy Technician (AIMM) or equivalent
Desirable
- Educational supervisor qualification or equivalent.
- Edward Jenner or equivalent qualification
- BTEC L4 Diploma in Pharmacy Clinical Services
