The Trust has an exciting opportunity for a full time Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist to join the National and Specialist CAMHS Enhanced Treatment Service (ETS). The post holder will develop, co-lead and deliver an alternative to inpatient care for adolescents in collaboration with other members of the multidisciplinary team and the incumbent consultant psychiatrist.
This service operates alongside existing inpatient teams that are part of the South London Partnership, including the Snowsfields Adolescent Unit (SAU), Bethlem Adolescent Unit (BAU), Bethlem Adolescent Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit (BAPICU) and Aquarius Unit, at Springfield Hospital, for eligible young people.
The service incorporates elements of home treatment, day care and intensive case management and acts as an alternative care pathway for young people with severe mental disorder who would otherwise require treatment in hospital. Referrals are received via two route either from wards to offer a supported discharge intervention aimed at facilitating early discharge and re-integration to life in the community or from community CAMHS teams as an alternative to admission.
The post involves outreach work in the community. The team base is in the CAMHS Crisis Hub at the Maudsley hospital. Equal weight is also given to supporting young people on the CAMHS wards and hospital school at the Bethlem Royal Hospital site too.
