POST Staff Nurse 1C
JOB GRADE: Band 5
HOURS: 37.5

ACCOUNTABLE TO 1C Ward Manager

We are looking for 3 B5 nurses to join the cardiac nursing team on 1C
We are a 23 bedded specialist cardiac ward caring for babies through to adolescents.
The ward is part of the critical care floor and incorporates high dependency cardiac beds and general cardiac beds including day case, medical cardiology and cardiac surgical pre and post op beds.
You will gain a wide variety of skills and knowledge, supported by a bespoke competency framework, to address the ever- changing needs of the patient population. We offer a 6 month preceptorship package and also run regular in-house study days to consolidate knowledge and bridge the theory to practice gap. Training will be supported by the Clinical Education Team.
As a specialist regional unit, we accept admissions from out of area, as well as Liverpool and take both planned and emergency admissions.
Main duties of the job
The candidate is responsible for providing a high standard of nursing care and to a wide range of cardiac patients. Including day case level patients , inpatients and HDU level patients
The candidate is able to use clinical assessment to assess their patients clinical status
The candidate is able to work as part of a large dynamic team
The candidate is able to communicate effectively with the team, patients and care givers to provide holistic care from a large Multi disciplinary team.

Responsible for the maintenance of patient records.
Has the focal point of the delivery of care . The bedside nurse is responsible as the key provider of information to patients, their family, and other members of the inter-disciplinary team.
Responsible for the delivery of care that is sensitive to the needs of the patient.
Establishes and maintains clear and effective verbal and written communication with patients and relatives and professionals across health and social services.
Work collaboratively and co-operatively with clinical colleagues to develop services.
Risk Management
Responsible for the promotion and maintenance of safe working environment for Trust staff and all people who visiting the premises.
Responsible for maintaining patient safety
Responsible for demonstrating compliance and competence of the Trusts health and Safety policies.
Responsible for the reporting of accidents and incidents to the ward Manager
Responsible for the legible and accurate patient nursing records in accordance with record keeping and confidentiality trust and professional body guidelines.
Responsible for the delivery of care that is sensitive to the needs of the patient.

BUSINESS CONTINUITY PLAN
The Trust is required to have robust emergency preparedness plans in place, to ensure the continuity of service in certain circumstances, eg major civilian disaster, business continuity incident. The Trust expects the post holder to be aware of their role in the event of such a significant disruption to Trust services. As a consequence of such circumstances the post holder may (within their scope of competence) be required to undertake a variation to their normal duties, normal base and / or hours of work as are reasonable and appropriate to maintain essential service provision.
