We are looking to recruit Psychological Wellbeing Practitioners to join a high performing and creative team. The team comprises a PWP team lead, 3 PWP managers, 4 senior PWPs, qualified PWPs and trainee / apprentice PWPs. This is an opportunity for qualified Psychological Wellbeing Practitioners (PWPs) to develop their career in the Low Intensity service. This role involves offering evidence-based practice in delivering low intensity interventions such as guided self-help (6-8 sessions) and computerised CBT (SilverCloud) within an IAPT service. We also value experience or interest of delivering therapy in a group format.

PWPs will contribute towards taking on areas of special interest. Some of the current ones we have are long term health conditions, BME, LGBTIQ+, perinatal and service user involvement. We have regular training opportunities for PWP providing teaching and CPD from peers, senior colleagues and external trainers. Each PWP receives three types of supervision: weekly case management supervision of caseload weekly dispersal supervision of triage assessments monthly clinical skills supervision quarterly reflective practice.

Essential
- Post Graduate qualification in Primary Care Mental Health work or IAPT PWP Training or equivalent
- All applicants need to be registered with the BABCP within 6 months of qualifying
- PWP trainee therapists must complete their training within 3 months of our offer and a band 4 position would be offered initially. On confirmation of passing the relevant PWP training course, a band 5 position would be offered. If the completion of the course does not occur within 3 months of the offer, we would close the contract
- All applicants need to be registered with the BABCP within 6 months of qualifying. If the accreditation does not occur within the specified time, we would close the contract
Experience
Essential
- Worked with people who have had mental health difficulties specifically anxiety and depression.
- Worked in a setting where there was a need to liaise with other agencies and services
- Assessment - Has received training (either formal or through experience) resulting in the ability to carry out agreed assessments which are conducted within service protocols
- Intervention Planning - has received training (either formal or through experience) so that appropriate interventions can be planned with the service user
- Risk Assessment has received training to carry out risk assessments
- Demonstrate competence is developing risk management plans
- Low intensity interventions: has training and hands on clinical experience to a level where Cognitive and Behavioural interventions and approaches can be implemented for an evidence based agreed range of difficulties
- Basic training/ experience in use of computers for data entry, communication and seeking information
- Experience in using complex IT systems for case management.
- Supervision - Has received training (either formal of through experience) on how to utilise supervision in the workplace
- Recent training in health and safety, child protection and clinical governance issues
- Is able to demonstrate a commitment to equal opportunities for all and encourage active participation in every aspect of care and treatment
Desirable
- Experience liaising within complex talking therapy services
- Previous experience in primary care
- Worked in a service where return to work and work retention was an element of the duties
Knowledge and Skills

- Possess a knowledge base related to an evidence based psychological therapy related to this post e.g. low intensity Cognitive and Behavioural interventions
- Knowledge of anxiety and depression
- Possess an understanding of the main medications used and their side effects in the treatment of anxiety and depression
- Understands the concept of stepped care and how it relates to the care of people experiencing common MH problems
- Understanding of the Improving Access to Psychological Therapies agenda
- Ability to carry out assessment as outlined in the job description
- Able to elicit information from a client surrounding a wide range of potential difficulties that may be causing difficulty for the service user
- Able to use computers for data entry, seeking information and communication purposes
