The surgical division is a busy and fast paced environment, so the post holder must be adaptive to change and able to make rapid balanced decisions to enable best care for patients and support for staff. They will be expected to ensure the delivery of high quality care across surgical wards and specialties, focussing on improving outcomes and experiences for children, young people and their families.
The post holder will be an integral member of the Surgical Matron team and will support the Surgical Head of Nursing to deliver key performance indicators and high quality evidence-based nursing care. They will be accountable for the effective nursing leadership to the surgical ward and specialist nursing teams within the Division and provide pro-active resource management. As an experienced practitioner, the post holder will be expected to create, lead, and maintain an environment of continuous quality improvement and professional development.
Main duties of the job
Reporting to the Head of Nursing and AHP's for Surgery, the post holder will work closely with the whole divisional senior management team, and all teams across the surgical division. - oRegistered Children's Nurse
- oSubstantial experience in health-related posts
- oEvidence of facilitating change/ improvement in clinical/ nursing practice and patient experience
- oEvidence of successful project management for improving practice and patient experience
- oExperience of working in the field of clinical quality, professional development, or health service management at a senior level
- oExperience of working at strategic level and acting on high level information
- oDetailed knowledge of the NHS and an understanding of the social and political environment
- oStaff management and leadership development
- oUnderstanding of the quality and professional nursing agenda in NHS
- ounderstanding of NMC, CQC and other agencies involved in clinical quality, safety, and professional practice
