We are looking for an enthusiastic OT to join our expanding Perinatal Parent Infant Mental Health Service
The Perinatal Parent Infant Mental Health Service is a Trustwide service working with pregnant and postnatal women and their families with severe and enduring mental health difficulties, as well as with parents and babies where there is a bonding/attachment concern in the relationship between parent and child. The team works across the London boroughs of Redbridge, Waltham Forest, Barking & Dagenham and Havering. The service is multi-disciplinary, including an MDT of Consultant Psychiatrists, Speciality Doctors, Team Leads, Clinical Leads, Perinatal Nurses, Mental Health Practitioners, Nursery Nurses, Occupational Therapy, Social Workers, Specialist Pharmacists, Perinatal Psychologists and Parent Infant Psychotherapists.
Experience of perinatal mental health is desirable, however we are looking for applicants with a desire to learn and gain knowledge in this newly developed service area. Support in relation to training in this field will be available.
Main duties of the job
The successful applicant will have mental health experience and will exhibit exceptional clinical skills, assessment, intervention and evaluation skills. The applicant should be hard working and be able to independently manage a caseload of OT specific cases. They will be able to effectively assessment and manage risk and will understand the risk during the perinatal period and implement effective risk management strategies.
They will work as part of the MDT and contribute to MDT meetings, referrals meetings, children safeguarding processes as well as supervise the nursery nurses within the service.
The role covers the NELFT boroughs of Waltham Forest and Redbridge, and you will work alongside an existing OT within the service who already covers the boroughs of Barking & Dagenham and Havering.
