The Royal Cornwall Hospitals NHS Trust has launched a significant investment in its Cancer Services workforce over the last few years.
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced nurse to join the Head & Neck Cancer CNS team.
The head and neck Cancer CNS team help to care for patients at all stages of their cancer journey and through a variety of treatments in a kind, compassionate manner. The team are committed to the development and delivery of high-quality holistic patient care. They play an active part in clinical practice, management of patient caseload, education, research, audit and professional activities relating to cancer care.
The team cares for people diagnosed with primary and secondary/metastatic head and neck You willjoin a supportive, forward thinking, and innovative multidisciplinary team, who are committed to improving services for patients and their carers.
Main duties of the job
You'll preferably have a minimum of 3 years post-registration experience in oncology or palliative care. It would be advantageous to have advanced communication skills and you will need to be willing to undertake a nurse prescribing course. However, anyone with experience within the head and neck specialty are actively encouraged to apply.
Within this role you will be required to understand the needs of acutely unwell cancer patients possess advanced communication skills for advising patients, relatives, and other health professionals along with knowledge of managing acute conditions, disease progression complications, and management of cancer treatment complications.
You will be dynamic with an ability to work autonomously, prioritise care and balance workload in a busy environment whilst supporting colleagues. A flexible approach and commitment to service development is essential for this post and you may be required to work in other areas within the service determined by demands and needs of the service.

- Holds / working toward a first level degree
