Following the departure of our current Director of CYP Psychological Therapies Training, we are looking for another passionate, highly able, dynamic and tenacious individual to take our CYP MH Workforce Transformation Training Portfolio (formerly known as CYP IAPT) forward to the next stage of development. This exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly expert and experienced psychological therapist, supervisor and trainer in an evidence based psychological therapy for Children & Young People (CYP), with a track record of effective leadership related to strategy implementation and service transformation. This national transformation project commenced in 2011 when the Psychological Therapies Training Centre (PTTC) was commissioned to provide a portfolio of evidenced-based psychological therapies training to CYP services in the North of England. We have been highly successful in delivering the commissioned training in partnership with Health Education England (now NHS England), our Service Manager Partners across the North and beyond, and the University of Manchester, and have expanded the portfolio significantly over the last 12 years. We currently run 12 CYP programmes mostly at Postgraduate level (in addition to our portfolio for psychological therapies training for working with adults) across a range of therapeutic specialities, employing around 50 programme/ pathway leads and clinical tutors, training around 300 students per year.

Main duties of the job

To join with the Senior Management team in leading on the development, delivery and management of a multi-faceted programme of training (workforce and managers) aimed at transforming participating CYP services in the region

Together with the Senior Management Team, to enable and ensure that participating services deliver the outcomes specified by the Department of Health (DH), and to participate in and lead on aspects of the strategic development of the CYP MH Workforce Transformation Project (formerly known as CYP IAPT) at a national level.

To develop the CYP component in all PTTC programmes as part of a strategic plan to develop the skill of the CYP workforce in the region

Person Specification

Education

Essential

  • Doctoral Degree or equivalent qualification in subject area relevant to evidence-based psychological interventions for children & young people
  • High level post qualification training in an evidence-based psychological therapy relevant to the CYP IAPT Portfolio of programmes
  • Professional accreditation relevant to the high level post qualification training in an evidence-based psychological therapy relevant to the CYP IAPT Portfolio of programmes


Desirable

  • Professionally accredited as a trainer in an evidence-based psychological therapy relevant to the CYP IAPT Portfolio of programmes


Experience

Essential

  • Substantial supervised practice experience of using highly expert evidence-based therapy skills relevant to the CYP IAPT training portfolio
  • Substantial experience of delivery of training and supervision in an evidence-based psychological therapy relevant to the CYP IAPT Portfolio of programmes
  • Experience of Academic Assessment and complying with University regulations


Desirable

  • Experience of strategic liaison with training commissioners, including participation in the development of national curricula
  • Experience of management of a training programme in an evidence-based psychological therapy relevant to the CYP IAPT Portfolio of programmes

Essential
