We are an integrated safeguarding team led by the Head of Safeguarding. The team covers maternity, children's, adults, domestic abuse and modern slavery. We very much Think Family! Based in the maternity safeguarding team, you will be part of a team that provides training, education, advice, and supervision. This role does include weekend working approximately one weekend day every 6-8 weeks. Currently the team is a Named Midwife with two band 7's and one band 6 with admin support. The role will require you to work cross-sites at times.
Main duties of the job
You will work as a member of the maternity safeguarding team. The team covers two hospitals within the trust with approx 10.000 delivers a year combined across both sites. Roughly 20% of all these women/pregnant people are known to the safeguarding team. There are 3 vulnerable caseload teams who offer 1-2-1 care for the women of highest priority whom we closely support.
The role of the safeguarding midwife includes supervision, training, education, managing and maintaining a very busy inbox, liaising with our multiagency partners to ensure that robust plans are in place for our most vulnerable babies. In addition attending a variety of Children's Social Care and Multi-disciplinary meetings (in person and virtual) and chairing meetings are a part of the role. As well as directly supporting women and midwives the role requires some auditing and data analysis. It's a very busy role within an established team but certainly never boring!
