Main duties of the job

As a senior member of the Urgent Treatment Centre, you will be expected to manage theassessment, diagnosis, implementation and treatment of a range of highly specialised care for adultsand children (aged 1 year and above) presenting with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problemsvisiting the unit.You'll provide clinical expertise, professional leadership and education, ensuring high standards ofevidence-based practice at all times.There will be opportunities to develop you to lead an area of practice, and liaise with leads at otherMIU/UTC sites within the organisation, attend relevant meetings and disseminate information to teammembers.

Qualifications

Essential

  • First Level Registered Nurse/Paramedic Completed
  • First Level Degree Immediate Life Support - adults and children - defibrillation
  • Evidence of relevant specialist courses and continuing professional development (minor illness/minor injury) at level 3
  • Child and adult protection knowledge
  • Proven record of mandatory training
  • IT NVQ or relevant experience


Desirable

  • Independent Nurse/Paramedic Prescriber
  • Leadership and management course
  • Relevant Degree Evidence of autonomous practice
  • ENB 998/Preparation for mentors
  • Appraisal, recruitment and absence management experience
  • A& E radiology, Imaging Regulation and Initial Imaging (red dot) course) & IRMer


Experience

Essential

  • Emergency care experience
  • Professional knowledge and competence in the autonomous management of undifferentiated presentations
  • Recognising limitations of the role Personal accountability
  • Experience of dealing with difficult complex and sensitive situations
  • Administration of medications within Patient Group Directions (PGD's)
  • Management of patients with minor injuries and minor illnesses

  • Excellent interpersonal skills - able to communicate with staff at all levels and disciplines as well as patients, relatives, carers and the multidisciplinary team
