Radiotherapy plays a vital role in the care of Cancer patients, with up to 50% of all Cancer patient receiving Radiotherapy as part of their treatment pathway. Therapeutic Radiographers are specifically trained to be involved in all aspects of the provision of a Radiotherapy service, including the preparation of bespoke treatment plans, treatment delivery, quality assurance of treatment plans and radiotherapy equipment plus the wider holistic care of the patient undergoing treatment.
This exciting apprenticeship opportunity will allow you to start a career in a highly rewarding Allied Health Profession which combines a high standard of patient care with advanced technical skills. You will undertake on the job training alongside BSc study with the University of the West of England (UWE) over a 36-month period. As part of a multidisciplinary team you will work under the direct supervision of Registered Practitioners to participate in the delivery of a safe and high-quality radiotherapy service. The training will be academically challenging but you will be fully supported throughout to develop the required skills and knowledge.
Successful completion of the training will allow you to register as a qualified therapeutic radiographer with the HCPC.
We are looking to recruit individuals who are enthusiastic, caring and compassionate, highly motivated and academically self-sufficient. You must be able to balance independent study with working clinically. Engagement in off the job study is essential, with the university teaching sessions being mandatory. Much of the university component is delivered through distance learning though some attendance in person is required and this will require you to travel to and stay in Bristol for short periods of time. Applicants must be able to evidence their Maths and English GCSE grade C/4 qualifications as well as meet the university course entry requirements. Applicants who have studied at degree level previously are equally welcome to apply. You must be available to commence in post by March 2024 as this is the start of the university academic year. Working Pattern: 37.5 hours per week.
