The Associate Director of Strategy will play a key leadership role in the GESH Group, leading on:
  • Strategy development - including reviewing and refreshing the Group strategy, and supporting individual corporate and clinical departments with strategy development
  • Strategy deployment - ensuring that Group strategy is translated into implementation through the Group's portfolio of major projects and annual business planning
  • Engagement with strategic partners, including St George's, University of London, hospital charities, and system partners
  • Service development - leading on major strategic service developments across the Group from initial planning to business case/system/regulatory approval, and on supporting clinical services to tender for new business
  • Horizon scanning - supporting the Trust Boards to understand the developing environment at local, regional and national level


Main duties of the job

Strategy development? Lead a process of annual review and refresh of the Group strategy? Working with the relevant Executive Director leads, support the development of corporatestrategies such as digital, estates, people, research and innovation, and quality and safetystrategies.? Support individual corporate and clinical services to develop strategies / responses to keystrategic issues or challenges? Identify new strategic opportunities and risks, and support the Group to seize/mitigate them.

Job responsibilities

In conjunction with the Communications Director, ensuring that the Groups strategy andapproach to collaboration across the group is well communicated and represented internally and externally. This job is above all one in which developing effective working relationships with others from avariety of disciplines internally (clinical, financial, workforce, information management,performance) and externally (such as regulators, commissioners and other external partners) is thekey requirementThe post holder will be expected to form and maintain a wide range of executive and professionalrelationships across the Group, ICB and Provider Collaboratives. The post holder will deploy thehighest-level personal communication skills to persuade encourage and motivate staff and stakeholders in the pursuit of better outcomes for local populations through a joint approach to delivery. This will sometimes be in a context of competing demands and system complexity.Effective communication with these stakeholders is essential.The role will have independent freedom to act over a wide range of issues, identifying and pursuing at the postholders discretion, issues, options and challenges that pertain to the strategydevelopment and deployment across Epsom St Helier and St Georges.
