Main duties of the job

Accountable to the Chair of the Board, the Chief Executive will:
  • Ensure that the highest quality, effective and efficient health care services are delivered
  • Ensure a fair, just, civil and inclusive culture that promotes a sense of belonging and embraces the rich diversity amongst our people and our communities to enable all to flourish
  • Provide strategic leadership, engaging stakeholders in shaping the vision for the future direction of the organisation
  • Ensure that we provide holistic and inclusive services that reduce health inequalities within our communities
  • Provide leadership and management of the organisation, its resources, plans and activities to ensure the highest standards of quality and governance are met
  • Ensure that staff engagement and innovation are central to the way that services are delivered
  • Drive the organisation's transformation programme to improve quality, efficiency and patient experience
  • Play a central leadership role across the ICB/ICS
  • Oversee the key activities of service improvement and business development for the organisation
  • Build strong relationships with key internal and external and strategic partners including commissioner groups and academic partners, undertaking complex negotiations on behalf of the organisation
  • Represent the organisation externally, developing and promoting its reputation
  • Ensure that legal and statutory obligations are fulfilled.

Job responsibilities

It is essential that the Chief Executive has strong and effective working relationships with a wide range of stakeholders. These include:

Internal:

Executive & Non-Executive Directors, clinical leaders and other senior managers, clinicians, Staff Representatives.

External:

Service Users, Carers and their representatives Clinical Commissioning Group, ICB/ICS, NHS England, Health Education England other NHS CEO's in Staffordshire Local Authority CEO's Keele & Staffordshire Universities and other academic partners PFI partners MPs Directors of Voluntary Organisations, GPs, Local Media

Person Specification

Educations, Qualifications and Training

Essential

  • Educated to Masters degree/equivalent professional qualification


Knowledge and Experience

Essential

  • Previous Board Executive experience
  • Experience of translating organisation strategy and vision into operational objectives and plans


Leadership & Management Skills

Essential

  • Commitment to achieving an inclusive and diverse organisation at every level and a track record of delivery toward that goal
  • Exhibits a drive, energy and enthusiasm and resilience to drive through and achieve end results and improvements Ability to communicate ideas and to generate action and delivery through others
