To work as part of the Haematology Team predominantly on the Haematology Day Unit. The main purpose of the post holder is to undertake phlebotomy, cannulation and the administration of intravenous and sub cutaneous chemotherapy. They will also have to administer supportive treatments for Haematology patients and undertake therapeutic venesections.
The post holder will be expected to support the Haematology Nurse Specialists and Senior Nurses in the planning of treatments, the telephone follow up of patients and assist in the Triage of patients when patients contact the Department.
Main duties of the job
Administration of chemotherapy.
Administration of supportive treatments including blood transfusions and undertaking venesections.
Venepuncture and cannulation.
Communicating with patients /families/carers and the MDT.
