This is an exciting opportunity for a dietitian with some existing post registration experience to join our team of Acute Specialist Dietitians within Gwent. This one-year fixed term role is based in Ysbyty Ystrad Fawr (YYF) which is easily commutable from Cardiff and Newport and is the Enhanced Local General Hospital which will host all ABUHB Stroke Rehab beds when they cohort to one site towards the end of 2023.
As the successful candidate you will support the Stroke Lead Dietitian, covering 3 days of inpatient Dietetics for the Stroke Rehab and General Medicine patients on the YYF site. To make the hours up to full time you will also cover 2 Dietetic Gastro or Coeliac clinics a week from the YYF site which will be a mixture of face to face and virtual consultations. You will be familiar with current guidelines for Stroke and Gastroenterology and have some existing experience managing the dietetic care of one of these specialist patient groups.
Main duties of the job
Professional development needs will be supported through our CPD programme and regular reviews with the relevant Lead Dietitians.
Whilst based in Ysbyty Ystrad Fawr, this specialist team has a health board wide remit and the successful post holders may be required or could request to cover clinical work in other health board locations.
As part of the Clinical Futures programme, our dietetic team has evolved to provide cover across the 4 acute hospital sites. We are a team of 32 dietitians working across the specialities of Nutrition Support, Gastroenterology, Stroke, Oncology and Diabetes and work with a team of 14 dietetic support and admin staff. We value both staff and service development and actively participate in the dietetic student training programme for Wales.
Our core department hours are 8.30 - 4.30 but we work flexibly and within our guidance there will be scope for you to adjust working hours to fit around personal commitments.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
