This post will suit an experienced and motivated Occupational Therapist, who is looking to move into a management role, to lead the OT Team at Callington Road. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to participate in in-house and external leadership training.
Callington Road Hospital is a self-contained mental health unit situated in beautiful grounds. The post holder will lead a team of 17.5 FTE OTs and OT Techs who work across the hospital site. The team provides services on PICU, Acute, Rehabilitation and Older Peoples wards, and interventions are provided on the wards, in the OT Department and the community. The Team are an enthusiastic and dedicated group who use developmental assessments, models and evidence, to standardise their practice across the hospital site.
As an inspirational supervisor and leader, practicing and sharing evidence, while also motivating others to deliver a high quality service, the successful candidate will provide formal supervision and informal day to day guidance for the team.
Applicants will be expected to have high level decision making skills & be able to work autonomously. Liaising with the Callington Road Management Team, they will play an active role in the development of services in line with local developments and the Trust's strategy and Business Plan

Main duties of the job
To carry out clinical practice within designated clinical areas focussing on people with complex needs ensuring that high quality evidence based occupational therapy assessment, treatment planning, interventions and evaluations for service users are provided. This is with the aim of enabling service users to achieve their maximum level of function and independence.

To contribute to the development and planning of services specific to the post's designated areas.
Working with finance team and contributing to budget meetings to agree best use of resources.
Take an active role in recruitment and retention of staff and day to day management of staff.
Undertaking Supervision and appraisal
Working with staff to support students.
A challenging part of this role Trying to plan therapeutic interventions for an ever changing client group. Ability to undertake risk assessment and develop risk management strategies for individual service users CPA/SAP to people who present with mental health problems.
Ability to undertake risk assessment and develop risk management strategies for groups and a variety of activities.
Demonstrate a working knowledge of the key elements of relevant mental health legislation.
To apply a high level of understanding of the effect of disability and provide training and advice on lifestyle changes and adaptations to the service users social and physical environment.
To assess the occupational needs of a defined service user group and establish and evaluate appropriate treatment programmes.
To be able to act as a care coordinator under the CPA policy.
