We are looking for a Clinical Scientist in Immunology to work in our UKAS accredited Immunology department. This is an exciting opportunity to develop your career in a large, busy teaching hospital laboratory and to use your skills to shape the future of the service. The Immunology department holds UKAS accreditation and incorporates Immunochemistry, Autoimmunity and Flow Cytometry.
You will be joining a growing team of Immunology Scientists led by a strong Consultant Team. The Immunology Laboratory at Southampton General Hospital processes around 300 samples per day with a test repertoire that supports a large teaching hospital and provides a referral service to regional laboratories. Clinical specialties that the laboratory supports include: Cancer Care, Rheumatology, Renal, Clinical Haematology, Clinical Immunology and Allergy. The laboratory is directed by the regional Immunology service and has direct links with the Wessex Investigational Sciences Hub laboratory (WISH Lab) that delivers bespoke translational research services to regulatory standards. The department has a strong record in the training of STP and HSST Clinical Scientists and supports both Scientist and Medical trainees through to gaining FRCPath.

Working 37.5 hours per week, with flexible working patterns between 07:00 and 20:00, you will: Be responsible for the routine selection, performance and interpretation of highly specialised diagnostic tests Analyse, interpret, report and validate patient results Liaise effectively with Clinical and Scientific staff and participate in MDTs Participate in decision making for acquiring appropriate methodology within specialist sections Be able to develop and perform novel or complex assays and be responsible for teaching and trainings of others to do so You will need: First or upper second class honours degree in a relevant science subject MSc in relevant subject HCPC registration as a Clinical Scientist or working towards HCPC registration Minimum of 1 year experience in an Immunology laboratory You will need to be: an excellent communicator well organised enthusiastic and self-motivated knowledgeable in Immunology and Flow Cytometry committed to improvement
