The Cornwall Speech and Language Therapy service has an exciting new opportunity for an experienced Paediatric Speech and Language Therapist to join our Midand West Cornwall Teams to support maternity cover.

The post is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to step into a specialist role or move into the local area.

You will hold a mixed community caseload and offer support in education settings, through home visits and clinic appointments in the Mid and West Cornwall area, such as Truro and Camborne, Pool, Redruth.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be required to participate in the delivery of a speech and language therapy service providing specialist assessments, intervention and advice for children and young people with Speech, Language and Communication Needs

• Participate in the provision of a high standard, specialist Speech and Language Therapy service, providing specialist assessments, intervention and advice for children and young people including those with highly complex presentations.
• To guide, educate and work alongside parents, carers and other professionals to support children and young people with speech, language, communication.
• To participate in clinical governance and service development within the Speech and Language Therapy teams in partnership with professional specialists, and other clinical leads.
• Coordinate and lead a small local team of Speech and Language Therapists including chairing regular meetings to discuss caseload management and team needs.

Qualfication

Essential

• oDegree in Speech and Language Therapy (or equivalent qualification).
• oTo have fully signed-off the Newly Qualified Practitioner Competencies as set out by the Royal College of Speech Language Therapists
• oRegistration with Health Professions Council
• oHave evidence of attending and using specialist knowledge gained from post-graduate study and attending courses

Desirable

• oMembership of the RCSLT
• oFieldwork educator / Clinical placement supervisor /Experience as a clinical educator of SLT students

Experience

Essential

• oClinical experience of working with autism, other neurodevelopmental disorders, and with children and young people with complex conditions and needs
• oHighly developed skills of clinical assessment, evaluation and intervention for children and young people with speech, language and communication difficulties.
• oExperience of working with multi-disciplinary and multi-agency teams, with an understanding of team roles and professional roles

Desirable

• oExperience of evaluating service delivery and monitoring effectiveness and outcomes of intervention
