Infectious Diseases is looking to recruit an enthusiastic, self-motivated Staff Nurse to complement our existing friendly team. Within the CAS division we have 13 beds and care for a variety of patients both male and female, of varying ages ranges. We specialise in infectious and tropical diseases and our patients come from diverse backgrounds.

We are looking for forward thinking, motivated nurses who want to provide best possible outcomes for their patients. The Infectious Diseases team are a multi-professional team with an excellent track record of providing specialist care. You do not need Infectious Diseases experience to join our team but you do need to be able to demonstrate kindness and that you are able to deliver care to a high standard. Please look at our job specification for detail. Please contact one of my deputy sisters, myself or my administrator on ext: 73299/ 72166. In return we offer a supernumerary period of two weeks for you to settle in and complete the admin, regular appraisal where your learning needs are identified and bespoke training in Infectious Diseases through study days.
An informal visit is highly recommended.

Job responsibilities
Be responsible for the assessment of care needs and the development of programmes of care ensuring that these are evaluated and amended as appropriate.
Document the condition and progress of patients and report to medical staff and/or senior nursing staff any areas of concern.
Undertake nursing procedures and techniques in accordance with agreed policies and guidelines.
Demonstrate clinical procedures to registered and unregistered staff as required.
Once competent in team management skills, take charge of the clinical area on a regular basis in the absence of the person who has continuing responsibility or his/her deputy.
Participate in the support and implementation of Essence of Care guidelines.
Be aware of your role with regard to the Medicines Code of Practice.
Comply with all Trust policies with particular regard to the policies and procedures carried out in the event of maintaining staff and patient safety.
Liaise with other clinical areas providing appropriate policies, education and clinical expertise in order to facilitate the management of patients with special requirements.
Maintain an awareness of the developments in the care and treatment of patients in order to be able to carry out duties competently and efficiently
