The post holder will be:
- with Trust policy Responsible for the assessment of care needs, planning, delivering and evaluating a high standard of nursing/practitioner care.
- Contributing to the safe and efficient running of the operating theatre department, through the acceptance of agreed additional responsibilities.
- An accomplished communicator able to contribute, implement and evaluate clinical and professional standards.
- Initiating and developing evidence based practice ensuring all staff are aware of current issues and changes.
- Ensuring the administration and documentation of drugs is in accordance. -
- 5hrs per week shifts include 3 nights,8-9 & 9-10 day shift
- Rotating between main recovery adults, Recovery 2 Paediatrics, Gynae recovery, Obstetrics recovery, Dentals Maxillofacial.

Main duties of the job
- Organise and prepare the recovery room and relevant equipment pertinent to the operative list/schedule
- Assist the anaesthetist in the post procedure care of the patient following anaesthetic and surgical intervention.
- Assist the surgeon in the post procedure care of the patient following anaesthetic and surgical intervention
- Ensure that they are competent in post-operative care, which should include periodical updating within the recovery arena
- Ensure Trust policies and guidelines for correct ordering, storage and use of all drugs are adhered to.
- Ensure that Trust policies and guidelines for correct clinical practices are followed.
- Be aware of Risk Management and Clinical Governance and the implications this has on clinical practice.
- Ensure the theatre staff and multidisciplinary team are aware of policies and procedures relating to Fire, Health & Safety, COSHH and Infection control.
- Report to Team Leader and or Theatre Manager any accidents, untoward incidents and complaints as soon as possible to include completion of the relevant documentation and dispatched to the appropriate department.
