We have a mixture of permanent and fixed term posts, various hours, available to band 5 registered midwives.

Applicationswillbe considered also to thosemidwives who are due to qualify in Jan 2024

The successful candidate will be autonomous practitioner, taking responsibility for the provision of care throughout the antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal periods for women and babies in the hospital/community setting. You will be responsible for the assessment, planning and implementation of care to both high and low risk women in the antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal period, also supporting the team/ward in the effective management of the clinical area. You will support, supervise and teach staff/students evidence based client centred care, which is of a high standard, being responsible for ensuring that all care is delivered according to Trust policies and procedures and maintaining associated records of care.

We have a robust preceptorship package in place for newly qualified midwives and a dedicated Practice Development Midwife.

Main duties of the job

  • To be responsible for assessment, development, planning, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care for normal midwifery throughout pregnancy, labour and post-delivery.
  • To identify clients for referral to other specialists when needs and risks are beyond one's own scope of practice, working in collaboration with these specialists to continue to meet the needs of clients.
  • To use a multidisciplinary approach when planning and delivering care utilising other members of the primary health care team, other services and voluntary organisations embracing the public health agenda.
  • Ensure that all clinical environments are conductive to meeting the needs of the patients at all times.
  • To lead others in the development of knowledge and clinical practice.
  • To be aware of WUTH safeguarding children procedures and have the knowledge and ability to make appropriate referrals to social services.
