The post holder will provide Occupational Therapy assessment and treatment interventions to older adults with mental health needs, including dementia and functional diagnosis, within specified inpatient and/or community settings. The post holder will use evidence based and client centred practice to assess, plan, implement and evaluate one to one and group based interventions within the setting.
The role will support leadership, provide clinical supervision to junior staff and undertake a practice placement educator role. The post holder will be expected to allocate work to Occupational Therapy Technical Instructors and ongoing support on a daily basis, as well as supervision and appraisal.

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Inpatient Mental Health Service for a band 6 Occupational Therapists within Black Country Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust Dudley and Walsall legacy. We are committed to offering our staff development prospects, based at Bloxwich Hospital Walsall however the role may require to move between both BCHTFT bases, with an expectation of flexibility to respond to service needs, which may include pan site cover.
Post is within older adults (65 years +) inpatient services Bloxwich Hospital covering two wards- Functional and Organic

- The post holder will have responsibility for a caseload of clients including those with complex needs and will need to provide Occupational Therapy assessment and treatment interventions to adults/older adults within a hospital setting.

- BSc Honours Occupational Therapy
- HCPC registration
- 2 years post qualifying
- Effective clinical knowledge and reasoning skills in working with older adults with mental health needs and conditions.
Desirable
- Being a Placement Educator and APPLE accreditation
- Experience and evidence of involvement in service development activities and supervision
- Knowledge and application of OT assessment, interventions in older adults with mental health needs
