The post holder will be based in Bolton Parent and Infant Relationship Service (PAIRS) which is a Parent Infant Mental Health (PIMH) service located within Greater Manchester Mental Health Foundation Trust and sits alongside Bolton CAMHS. PAIRS has been commissioned to provide a clinical service, strategic leadership and training and workforce development for the perinatal period up until the child's 2nd birthday.

The service works across Bolton and has good working relationships with the Specialist Community Public Health Nursing Teams, Maternity Services, Children's Centres, Adult Mental Health, Specialist Perinatal Community Mental Health Services, Voluntary sector and Children's Social Care. Bolton PAIRS provides a clinical service, training, consultation, and supervision across a large multi-agency network of mixed professionals.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will lead on parent infant mental health and be instrumental in developing the strategic vision of the service.

You will be responsible for developing and delivering a community based therapeutic service to expectant parents , infants, young children and their families, working at both an early intervention level as well as with high risk and vulnerable families .

You will provide highly specialist assessment and treatment of the parent-infant relationship, working with parents/carers and infants and their families.

This work will be grounded in the principles and techniques of Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy/Clinical Psychology. In addition, to direct clinical work, they will be responsible for supporting the wider network in respect to parent infant mental health, acting as a specialist resource through the offer of supervision, consultation, and training to relevant professionals across the borough.

The Bolton Parent and Infant Relationship service sits alongside Bolton CAMHS. Bolton and Wigan CAMHS services work closely together and are part of Greater Manchester Mental Health Trust. You will therefore part of a wider well supported team of psychologists and psychological therapists with good opportunities for development within your role.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

  • Relevant professional qualification
  • Professional registration/membership
  • Undertaken post qualification further training in a relevant specialised area of Psychotherapeutic practice


Desirable

  • Additional further training in the use of parent infant mental health and under 2s assessments


Experience

Essential

  • Supervisory experience
  • Experience of working as a specialist clinician with children under 2 years of age and in parent infant mental health


Desirable

  • Experience of representing psychology/psychotherapy within the context of multi-disciplinary care.
