Senior Staff Nurse
RSCN/RN [Child Branch]
Band 6
Full Time 37.5 hrs per week

An exciting and challenging opportunity has arisen for a dynamic individual with excellent clinical skills and ED experience to enhance their skills as a band 6 in ED.
Any staff successfully employed will benefit from a 5% pay increase on top of their salary up to and including 31stMarch 2024
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate would take charge in the busy ED on a shift by shift basis and also be expected to work streaming/TW shifts to enhance the skill mix at triage.
As a Band 6 nurse you will be responsible for the day to day flow of the department by ensuring the standards of care are met for children and their family / carers whilst in the emergency department, including delegation and deployment of the nursing team in the absence of a band 7.
About us
You will be responsible for managing the shift ensuring the safety of both patients and their families and the nursing team, teaching both nursing students and qualified nurses, escalation of concerns as per department policy and working towards targets such as the 4 hour breach. Responsibilities also include liaising with the multidisciplinary team and providing leadership to nursing colleagues. You will be expected to have excellent clinical and communication skills.
The successful candidate will be able to work all shifts.

As a registered childrens nurse the post holder will provide leadership in care to children, young people and their families in theemergency departmentThe post holder will be accountable and responsible for providing a high standard of child and family focused care.To carry out care without direct supervision as part of the Emergency Department team and supervise juniors delivering care.To communicate effectively with the multidisciplinary team.Contribute towards the effective running of the department including patient safe and timely care.
