An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the dynamic team at the Jessop Wing Hospital.

The Professional Midwifery Advocate will use the A-EQUIP (Advocating for Education and Quality Improvement) approach to support all midwives to improve system performance and the experiences of midwives and women.

Main duties of the job

  • Meet the professional support and developmental needs of midwives and have a positive impact on clinical outcomes for women, babies, midwives and maternity services.
  • Deploy the A-EQUIP model of advocating and educating for quality improvement (NHS England 2017), which provides a continuous improvement process that builds upon personal and professional resilience of midwives to enhance the quality of care for women.
  • Support midwives by providing and promoting regular sessions of restorative clinical supervision (RCS) and embed a culture of openness, reflection and professional resilience.
  • Collaborate with the local quality & safety, governance, and practice development teams, providing professional advice and supporting quality improvement. Network with PMAs throughout South Yorkshire Bassetlaw LMNS and the wider region. Implement national recommendations for PMA services.

Qualifications

Essential

  • NMC Registered Midwife
  • Mentorship Qualification or relevant equivalent qualification (SSSA/998/997)
  • Degree or equivalent qualification/experience
  • PMA qualification


Desirable

  • Leadership qualification


Experience and knowledge

Essential

  • Extensive post graduate experience.
  • Experience of undertaking audit and change management
  • Evidence of leadership skills
  • Experience of working collaboratively with multi-disciplinary team


Desirable

  • Teaching and presentation skills
  • Experience of co-ordinating a team


Skills and Abilites

Essential

  • Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal skills
  • Experience of facilitating clinical restorative supervision sessions.
  • Ability to influence and facilitate change
  • Able to organise and facilitate meetings


Desirable

  • Experience of leading a team of PMAs
