An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced dietitian with excellent clinical and team-working skills to join the Learning Disabilities (LD) Service in Blackcountry Community Healthcare Trust , but employed by and part of the Dudley Group Foundation Trust, Community Dietitians Team based at Stourbridge Health and Social Care Centre .

If successful, you will work as a Highly Specialist LD dietitian to provide a safe, effective, and evidence-based dietetic service to the community patients with learning disabilities.

You will work as an integral member of the LD multidisciplinary team assessing, advising, managing and rehabilitating patients with complex nutritional and social needs. Your team-working, leadership, supervision and communication skills will be invaluable, as well as your ability to work autonomously to manage your caseload.

Main duties of the job

This role involves providing a highly specialised dietetic advice to adults with a learning disabilities and dysphagia. This post holder will be a member of the multidisciplinary teams looking after these patients/clients.

This role will provide you with excellent professional and personal development opportunities. You will be required to lead on the development and implementation of patient-centred nutritional management pathways and other service improvement initiatives for patients Learning Disabilities. You will also have the opportunity to be involved with dietetic student placements, multidisciplinary team nutrition training, audit and the development of the wider dietetic service.

Education and Qualifications

Essential

  • BSc or post graduate Diploma in Nutrition and Dietetics
  • HCPC Registration


Desirable

  • Membership of British Dietetic Association
  • Member of Special Interest Group relevant to this post


Eperience and skills

Essential

  • Extensive post-graduate experience in a range of clinical areas
  • Good Knowledge and experience in managing patients with nutrition related conditions such as malnutrition, dysphagia and home enteral tube feeding
  • Ability to manage large, busy and complex caseload
  • Accurate anthropometric and measurement skills


Desirable

  • PENG course or post registration training


Communication and Team working

Essential

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills - articulate in all forms
  • Ability to communicate effectively with other members of the MDT
