The Royal Surrey is proud to have an enthusiastic and dynamic team of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons who share the common goal of providing excellent clinical care. The department is a Regional referral unit for Oral and Maxillofacial surgery (OMFS) from hospitals in North Hampshire and North/ West Surrey. The team manages the full breadth of pathology associated with OMFS.
The focus of the role will primarily be to meet a growing demand within an established tertiary skin cancer treatment unit. In addition there will be opportunity to support trauma, odontogenic lesions and complex dento alveolar surgery. The successful applicant will be required to participate in an on call commitment.

Main duties of the job
To provide specialist care to maxillofacial patients at ward level, outpatients and in theatre. This Specialist Doctor will have a sub-specialist interest in the management and treatment of skin cancer. The role has been developed to provide support and capacity for an ever-growing tertiary surgical skin service.
To practice independently providing care and oversight to maxillofacial and skin patients. Undertake fixed outpatient and local anesthetic theatre commitments both at The Royal Surrey Hospital and at Haslemere Hospital. Work flexibly to provide annualised DCC activities to accommodate general anaesthetic and more complex patients through our main theatre complex (42 sessions per year). The Trust operates an 8642 operational model for theatre uptake and utilisation. Ensuring activity does not decrease during periods of annual leave.
The post holder will be key to delivery of a melanoma service and be able to help with growing numbers of patients requiring sentinel lymph node biopsy (SLNB). The post holder will be required to attend the weekly skin MDT meeting.
There is an on-call commitment with this post on the 2nd tier but with the potential for this candidate to be able to act up on the consultant tier if necessary.

- BDS (or equivalent)
- MBBS (or equivalent)
- Full GDC/GMC Registration (with licence to practice)
- Have completed a minimum of 12 years' medical work (either continuous period or in aggregate) since obtaining a primary medical qualification, with 6 of these years being in the specialty or relevant specialty
