The post holder will have a key role, working within the Antenatal and Newborn (ANNB) Screening team, promoting and maintaining all the relevant areas related to antenatal screening services, in line with national recommendations. They will have a particular role leading lead on the midwifery care for pregnant women with major Haemoglobinopathies and infectious diseases.
Each post will be dedicated to a single site, so you will based at The Royal London Hospital. Here you will be part of a multi-disciplinary team and work closely with the Senior Midwifery Management Team. You will also be linked to the Public Health Team who are responsible for making every patient contact count for health promotion, supporting every employee to improve their health and wellbeing, and working with local partners and contributing to the local community and environment.
Counsel, support and advice women and their partners, during their maternity care, on genetic issues and infectious diseases, with service availability and choice.
Provide, implement and facilitate educational programmes which will equip staff to provide quality care to clients. Provide midwifery care for pregnant women with major Haemoglobinopathies and Infectious disease as part of a multi-disciplinary clinical team. Work closely with appropriate specialist.

- Counsel, support and advice women and their partners, during their maternity care, on genetic issues and infectious diseases, with service availability and choice.
- Provide, implement and facilitate educational programmes which will equip staff to provide quality care to clients.
- Provide midwifery care for pregnant women with major Haemoglobinopathies and Infectious disease as part of a multi-disciplinary clinical team.
- Work closely with appropriate specialist colleagues including screening coordinator, Fetal Medicine Unit (FMU) Lead, medical team, midwifery team and laboratory staff.
- Support the coordination and provision of monitoring and performance information of the ANNB screening services to ensure the delivery of a high standard of service to women and their families.
- Support, in conjunction with other members of the screening team, the implementation of new developments in ANNB screening services within maternity.

- Registered NMC midwife with active registration
- Evidence of post-qualification education
- Mentorship / Practice assessor qualification or preparing for it
- Understanding of NMC Codes of Practice
