As the Chief Technician Aseptic Operations, you'll be one of our managers running the operations of our busy aseptic units.You'll be working with our Pharmacists, Technicians, Quality department, apprentices and other junior staff to ensure we run an efficient high quality, patient focused aseptic service.
You will play a pivotal role, working within the aseptic unit within Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust at the Charing Cross and Hammersmith Hospital sites.
Our two aseptic units are staffed by enthusiastic and committed teams delivering a high number of doses daily across both sites to various specialities, including our rapidly expanding BMT unit, and one of only three gestational trophoblastic disease centres nationwide.
Our Pharmacy team are a large department of over 300 staff working across St Mary's, Charing Cross and Hammersmith Hospitals. We are a leading Trust in research and clinical trials, enabling you to experience diverse and exciting opportunities.
You will not only have the opportunity to explore and enhance your technical expertise, but you will also be a key member of aseptics management team.Main duties of the job
To provide a high quality, patient focused, aseptic service, to patients of the Trust particularly with regard to provision of a chemotherapy compounding service.
To co-ordinate the patient list and treatments for oncology and haematology patients, to act as a first point of contact for queries to ensure smooth running of the service.
To co-ordinate all pharmaceutical aspects of all products prepared in the aseptic unit.
To maintain and develop the aseptic processes in line with GMP to ensure the smooth running of the service.
To help facilitate and support the efficient and cost effective use of medicines within the aseptic unit.
To provide expert advice on pharmaceutical matters, undertaking risk management and ensuring compliance with medicines legislation. To facilitate and support the efficient and cost effective use of medicines. To develop, train, motivate and encourage staff working within technical services.About us

- Recognised pharmacy technicians qualification e.g. NVQ Level 3 in Pharmacy Services
- Registered Technician with the GPhC
- Accredited Checking Technician or aseptic equivalent
- GMP/GCP qualification
- Management Qualification (e.g. CMS)
- A solid grounding in all aspects of hospital pharmacy practice and extensive experience working in aseptic services.
- Previous experience of managing others
- Previous experience in training others
- Previous experience with pharmacy computer systems
- Experience of research and audit
- Management of poor performance
- Good communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills
