An exciting Staff Nurse opportunity has arisen offering the chance to be part of the Lancashire Elective Centre
Primarily based on the Burnley site you will be required to work flexibly to cover the needs of the service. This does include supporting the Trust's winter pressure areas.
This unit covers all elective admissions to include a Day surgery unit with an inpatient facility and Procedure Room.
We care for a mixture of Surgical and Medical Patients
The unit open's at 07:30 on a Monday and remains open until 14:00 Saturday afternoon.
Main duties of the job
Work collaboratively as part of a team including Health care assistants and student/ cadet nurses. Actively contribute to the delivery of high standards of individualised plans of nursing care.
Coordinate alongside the junior Sister.
Undertake all pre and post procedure patient care.
Work a variety of shifts to include days' nights and weekends.
Implement that clinical practice is carried out in accordance with trust and departmental policy.
Participate and promote service development.
Organise time, equipment and staff
Demonstrate competency in nurse led discharge policy to include the dispensing of medication.
Support patients, relatives and colleagues.
Participate in research and learning projects on going within the department.

The Elective Centre is a busy unit that has 46 beds which are a mixture of day case and inpatient.
This is a great opportunity to be part of a dynamic team that treats multi speciality patients. These include Urology, General surgery, Vascular, Max fax, minor plastics, ENT, Breast, Chronic pain and orthopaedic.
We also care for patient Prior to Endoscopic procedures, recovering from peg insertions and having infusions.
You will gain confidence and autonomy in a nurse led unit, managed by a nurturing and supportive leadership team.
You will be given opportunity to develop your skill further as we also cover the DVT service.

You will be a 1st level Registered General nurse some surgical/ medical knowledge would be advantageous but is not essential as training will be given.
You will possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Demonstrate the ability to work on your own initiative.

Have passion and drive to make this new centre a success.
