Fixed Term Contract - 9-12 months maternity cover
We are looking for an advanced wound care podiatrist cover a maternity vacancy in support of the podiatry department and acute foot multidisciplinary team. The successful candidate will be expected to deliver specialist foot care as part of the MDT at the Royal Free Hospital.
Main duties of the job
The acute foot MDT comprises diabetes, vascular, infectious diseases and podiatry treating complex and acute foot conditions. Treating and triaging patients into the defined clinical pathways both internally and externally will be a key component within the post holder's role. Advanced wound care techniques are part of regular care.
The successful candidate is required to be able demonstrate Trust values, the responsibilities of the job description and person specification. Post registration experience in diabetes, vascular disease and other acute foot conditions is a must. Candidates should be highly motivated, should have the ability to cope with and manage clinical emergencies, and positively manage stress in a busy and demanding environment.
This post also requires high level of understanding in clinical governance, audit, risk management, safeguarding, duty of candour and evidence-based practice. - oExperience of working at a band 6 level or above in an acute hospital setting with a high risk caseload

- oExperience of working with a wide range of patient and disease/pathology types including the at-risk and high-risk foot and neurovascular tests
- oExperience of acute and chronic at risk wound care management
- oAwareness/experience of setting & maintaining clinical standards and clinical audit

- oUnderstanding of role of podiatry within current evolving health environment
- oPrevious experience of junior staff & student supervision/ clinical education

- oCore skills in Podiatry, knowledge of acute foot conditions and wound management
- oAbility to undertake intricate work in using sensitive diagnostic tools and a range of surgical instruments. e.g in the management and debridement of poor tissue viability wounds and nail surgery
- oKnowledge of recent developments in the profession
- oKnowledge and understanding of the NICE Diabetes guidelines and NSF in diabetes
- oPositive attitude to change
- oExcellent time management and organisational skills
- oAbility to work within Trust policies, including clinical governance, data protection, equal opportunities, and health and safety, to meet the differing needs of the patient
