In light of recent organisational changes, we are currently re-developing The Disabled Children's Outreach Service (DCOS) and recruiting for several new positions. We are hoping to build an innovative and compassionate multidisciplinary team, with a strong community focus.
We are looking to recruit a clinical team lead (band 8b), a senior clinician (band 8a) and two clinical practitioners (band 7). These posts are open to all disciplines.
We are seeking enthusiastic clinicians who are strong advocates for children with disabilities. We welcome clinicians who are trained in PBS but will also support the development of these skills through further training and specialist supervision.
This is an exciting time to join DCOS, as it offers an opportunity to be part of a new, forward thinking service and to take an active role in helping shape its development.Main duties of the jobAbout the role We are looking for an experienced community minded clinician who is an advocate for children with disabilities and aligns with the social model of disability. This is an exciting role for someone who wants to continue to lead and develop community services for children with disabilities in partnership with them, their family's and the professionals involved. The role would suit someone who is enthusiastic, creative and committed with leadership and managerial skills. Within this role you will lead a service that provides a range of interventions for cognitive, behavioral, relational, mental health and environmental differences and challenges. The post holder would be the clinical lead for interventions within the community and would be part of the team who carry out individual, family work, consultations, online workshops and collaborative supportive groups.
DCOS offers a rewarding and stimulating workload. There is a breadth of clinical work, including intervention and consultation with parents and professionals, training for social workers, provision of community coffee mornings for parents, and opportunities for multi-disciplinary and multi-agency working. - A qualification in Child Psychotherapy, Clinical Psychology, Family Therapy, Nursing, Counselling Psychology, Social Work or other equivalent profession
- Education/ Qualification/ Training
- Registration with the Health and Care Professional Council (HCPC)
- Clinical Psychology Postgraduate Doctorate in Clinical Psychology (or its equivalent for those trained prior to 1996)
- Registration with HCPC
- Family Therapy Qualification in appropriate mental health/social welfare profession such as Social Work, Clinical Psychology, Nursing or Counselling
- Masters or Doctoral level qualification in Systemic Psychotherapy or AFT agreed equivalent
- UKCP Registered
- Child Psychotherapy Honours degree. Postgraduate Diploma/MA in Psychoanalytical Observational Studies or recognised equivalent. Masters in Psychoanalytical Psychotherapy: Child and Adolescent.
- Registered member of ACP
- Nursing Mental Health Nurse Level 1 (RN3, RNMH in sub part 1 of the NMC Register) ENB 998 or equivalent
- Relevant post-graduate qualification in Child and Adolescent Mental Health. Substance misuse or equivalent (e.g. ENB 603)
- Counselling Psychology Postgraduate Doctorate in Counselling Psychology or its equivalent.
- Social Work Recognized Social Work qualification such as Diploma in Social Work with an MA in Social Studies, or Degree level Social Work qualification or CQSW.
- or other relevant discipline and relevant basic qualifications, including Speech & Language Therapist
- Qualifications/ training in specialist skills relevant to post (e.g Training in Positive Behaviour Support or Applied Behavioural Analysis, VIG, Theraplay etc)
- Substantial post qualification experience as clinician in children's disability services/ working with children with neurodevelopmental difficulties, particularly Autism and complex health needs.
- Experience of working with a wide variety of client groups, presenting with range of clinical severity across different care settings such as community, primary care, in-patient and home or residential care settings
- Experience of management and leadership responsibilities
- Experience of Service Development
- Experience of liaison and joint work with other statutory, including Social Services and Education, and voluntary agencies.
- Experience of teaching, training and professional and clinical supervision.
