The Macular service in the Royal Victoria Infirmary and Cramlington, is an ever expanding and busy work environment.
This post presents an exciting opportunity for a registered nurse to join our Ophthalmology Specialist Nurse team. Depending on previous knowledge and experience this post will involve some training sessions working towards specific competencies in macular clinics. as ongoing support of the Invitreal injection service.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will work as part of the multidisciplinary team within Outpatients supporting face-to-face and virtual clinics including post-operative reviews and macular clinics. They will also be required to assist in the delivery of other Ophthalmology Outpatient clinics.
The Newcastle Eye-centre is a busy, but friendly and innovative place to work.
There is an expectation that the successful candidate will be motivated to develop knowledge and skills in Ophthalmology, working toward becoming a Band 7 practitioner of the future. Training and development needs will be discussed and assessed in order to ensure job satisfaction and development.
The service is expanding and ongoing audit of practice and development is encouraged and supported.

- Experience in post op cataract review clinics and/or intravitreal injections is advantageous but not essential.
