With a long-standing reputation for delivering excellence in NHS and private provider , Mental Health services reviews , the National Collaborative Commissioning unit's Quality Assurance Improvement Service (QAIS) is seeking a an additional Mental Health/Learning Disabilities Practitioner to join the team.

This temporary contract/secondment is a unique and highly sought-after development opportunity within a specialist national team with the potential for a permanent position in the future.

The post holder will fulfil a key role within an indispensable and critical function of NHS Wales. The QAIS team provides Quality Assurance through their reviews, that cover NHS and private Mental Health services provided to Welsh citizens across the UK. In addition, there may be a requirement to provide support and expertise on external projects. The post holder will provide a high level of review and audit skills and will work unsupervised across a range of hospital and care settings .

Individuals with a professional qualification in Mental Health and/or Learning Disabilities , and looking to apply their dynamism, expertise and knowledge at a national level, are encouraged to apply. We welcome applications from Band 5 and above with the necessary skills.

Main duties of the job

The Post holder will be responsible for
  • Clinically audit providers of collaboratively commissioned MH & LD services under the National Framework Agreements.
  • Provide specialist advice with regard to the National Framework Agreement to UHBs and Independent Sector providers.
  • Challenge providers on poor performance.
  • Provide specialist education and training to other staff in the NHS and Independent Sector in relation to the National Framework Agreement.
  • Ensuring providers reduce risk and promote hope, recovery and rehabilitation.
  • Ensuring quality and safety concerns about providers are raised, discussed, collated and disseminated by statutory agencies, Local authorities and UHBs.
  • Facilitate collaborative working between providers and commissioners to ensure safe and effective care.
  • The majority of functions undertaken are proactive performance management or reactive to situations that have arisen. Formal reviews are undertaken with providers, and UHB's which examine use of collaboratively commissioned services compared to plans and progress towards achieving service quality as set out in the service specification.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this role Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Qualifications/Education

Essential

  • Undergraduate Degree.
  • Clinical professional qualification - professional group: Clinical/Counselling Psychology Social Work Occupational Therapy.
  • Educated to Masters degree level or equivalent experience
  • Evidence of Continued Professional development.
