This post has been developed in line with National and local guidance for promoting and improving the provision and access to mental health services for parents who are experiencing common mental health difficulties, during antenatal and postnatal period up to their child / children's 2nd birthday.The post holder will work as a mental health practitioner supporting the perinatal and infant mental health (PIMH) pathway for parents accessing NHS talking therapies Oldham. The Post holder will work under the supervision of the perinatal and Infant mental health specialist within the service, to provide care and treatment to mothers, fathers and wider family members, up until the child's second birthday. The post holder will liaise closely with wider PIMH services within Oldham's boroughs and implement a community based therapeutic service to parents and their families with a particular focus on early intervention for common mental health difficulties. The post holder will provide assessment and treatment for this client group and support improvements in inclusion and access to psychological therapies and other community resources / services.The post holder will be expected to offer consultation and clinical supervision to colleagues within NHS talking therapies Oldham.
Main duties of the job
Delivery of service provision within the parameters of the PIMH pathway, Focusing on the inclusion of Mothers, fathers, and extended family members within primary care mental health service in line with the PIMH pathway. The perinatal period is defined as the period from conception up until the child's second birthday.
To provide specialist assessments for parents, this can include the interpretation and integration of data from a variety of sources including self-report measures, direct and indirect observation and interviews with clients, family members and/or carers.
To offer therapeutic interventions focussed on supporting parents during the perinatal period and enhancing the relationship between a parent and infant.
Engaging families including wider family members within assessment and intervention. implementing a range of perinatal and parent-infant interventions for families.
To undertake risk assessment, formulation and risk management for vulnerable families and their infants. To work systemically to provide general advice to other professionals on psychological and social aspects of risk assessment and management.
To support the evaluation of the perinatal work within Oldham Healthy Minds, contribute to and conduct clinical audits of service performance, including service user feedback and evaluations and dissemination of findings.

To support the perinatal and infant mental health specialist with engagement and consultation for other professionals / individuals / groups across Mental Health Trusts, Local Authority and other Third Sector agencies.
Work as a co-therapist where appropriate with other members of PIMH service and NHS talking therapies Oldham.

- A recorded/registered qualification in one of the following at graduate level in nursing, social work, occupational therapy, arts therapy or within a psychological therapy. OR Evidence of meeting the Knowledge Skills and Attitude (KSA) requirements of BABCP.
