We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic individual who will assist in moving the service forward, focusing on developing and maintaining standards and upholding trust protocols and guidelines in relation to clinical skills and systemic anti-cancer therapy training and competency assessments.
The successful candidate will need to lead and coordinate the operational and day to day work of the clinical skills training service in designated clinical areas working closely with Departmental Managers, Clinical Practice Facilitators, Specialist Practice Educator (SACT), clinical staff and other members of the multidisciplinary team. They will also have to work as part of a team to deliver planned generic clinical skills and SACT training sessions, provide a trust wide bleep service and cross cover clinical skills and SACT training in other designated clinical areas during absence. The successful candidate will need to work effectively as part of the Clinical Skills Training Team in supporting The Christie PET-CT Academy with specific clinical skills training programmes
Also the successful candidate, in designated clinical areas, will monitor and supervise The Christie Care Certificate, Preceptorship and medical devices training processes alongside specific Leads for new staff.
Main duties of the job
To lead and coordinate the operational and day to day work of the clinical skills training service in identified designated clinical areas, ensuring the effective operational delivery of generic clinical skills training and support for a range of staff groups within the workforce.
In designated area, to work effectively with Departmental Managers, Clinical Practice Facilitators, Clinical Skills Link Workers and external agencies to assess training needs, coordinate, deliver and promote the service, and ensure effective support is provided to clinical staff and other members of the multidisciplinary team.
In designated clinical areas oversee the implementation, monitoring and assessment of the Healthcare Support Worker development programme and supervise and monitor the preceptorship and medical devices training processes.
Under the supervision of the Clinical Skills Team Manager collaboratively with the other Senior Clinical Skills Trainers deliver the planned clinical skills training programme and lead on moving the service forward by identifying training needs and devising, developing and implementing policies, protocols and training programmes in line with changing legislation and evidence based practice, focusing on maintaining quality standards in relation to clinical skills training.

Demonstrate a pleasant, approachable and proactive manner to create and promote a good working relationship amongst the Clinical Skills Training Team, within the School of Oncology and the clinical divisions. Adhere to uniform policy to maintain a professional appearance. Work autonomously managing own workload in designated clinical areas. Work as part of the team to deliver static training sessions, provision of trust wide generic bleep service and cross cover during absence Prioritise, plan and coordinate the delivery of the operational work of the team. Liaise with the Clinical Skills Training Manager to ensure that operational work issues are addressed and to assist in informing overall strategic delivery of the service and priorities Be responsible for liaising with managers and or Clinical Practice Facilitators in designated clinical areas to assess needs and monitor competencies Feedback to the managing clinical skills training team members ensuring the appropriate operational service cover arrangements are in place e.g., during sickness or annual leave and be adaptable to ensure that the overall work of the team is carried out effectively Attend and actively participate in departmental and Trust committees, providing reports and information relating to the work of the clinical skills training team and feedback to managing clinical skills training team members Be aware of own limitations and that of others, seeking advice and guidance as required Act as a specialist resource/support for the Trust in relation to clinical skills training, Healthcare Support Worker developments, preceptorship and medical devices training processes and liaise with the managing clinical skills team and/or multi disciplinary team as appropriate Demonstrate effective written, verbal and nonverbal communication skills, with team colleagues, staff in designated clinical areas and other staff trustwide and externally, at all levels on a range of matters relating to clinical skills training provision/developments Manage difficult conversations with staff in designated clinical areas maintaining confidentiality at all times and escalate to senior colleagues as appropriate Demonstrate effective use of Microsoft word, excel and outlook IT packages adhering to trust and IT governance policies at all times Demonstrate a professional and keen interest in the overall work of the School of Oncology

Be accountable to Clinical Skills Training Manager for identifying training gaps, raising areas of priority, and develop and deliver clinical skills training programmes and supporting documents and policies to a range of clinical staff across professions, in large/smalls groups and/or on a 1:1 basis
2. Implement and oversee in collaboration with the Clinical Skills Training Manager and clinical managers an effective Healthcare Support Worker development programme in designated clinical areas
3. Supervise and monitor in collaboration with the Clinical Skills Training Manager the preceptorship and medical devices training processes in designated clinical areas

SERVICE IMPROVEMENT AND QUALITY

2. Be responsible to the Clinical Skills Team Manager when handling the investigation of clinical incidents relevant to the work of the Clinical Skills Training Team.
3. Lead collating and maintaining training and development records in designated clinical areas.
4. Be accountable to the Clinical Skills Training Manager to identify, devise, develop and implement new clinical skills training initiatives and educational pathways, ensuring practice is evidence based and adheres to trust standards and policies.
5. With team establish competency standards to ensure the agreed standard of care is maintained.
6. Supervise the professional work of staff and students requiring training in designated areas reporting any concerns to clinical managers
7. Advise and support staff in relation to clinical skills training.
