SECONDMENT OPPORTUNITY Band 6 deputy Ward Manager, up to 37.5 hours per week - maternity cover until 26th August 2024.
We are seeking to recruit a deputy ward manager on Elm C ward at the Cumberland Infirmary, Carlisle. Elm C is a specialist ward providing care to those who are living with dementia, experiencing delirium or are physically frail. We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic nurse to work as part of our dedicated multidisciplinary team. You will possess excellent communication and leadership skills and be able to work as an effective member of the multidisciplinary team. Your role will support the Ward Manager and play a key role in supporting the nursing team to ensure high quality standards of care are provided for our patients. You will be required to deputize for the Ward Manger in her absence. We are a dynamic and enthusiastic team, centralised around holistic patient care with a multidisciplinary approach.
Elm C is 22 bedded acute medical. We have an experienced and highly motivated Multidisciplinary team including links with psychiatric liaison and our own Admiral Nurse Team providing specialist advice and support to those living with dementia.

Main duties of the job
Manage and provide all aspects of patient care.Act in accordance with the Code of Professional Conduct (NMC), and otherprofessional guidelines. Be personally accountable for your professional practice, judgement and conduct.
Carry out relevant investigations / procedures, assessing / interpreting abnormal results and other patient conditions as required and taking appropriate action to ensure safety of patient according to the National Institute of Clinical Excellence (NICE) guidelines
Discuss information about patients' medical condition, allowing them to voice any questions and concerns, and always acting in their best interests.Advise the patient of health promotion, giving effective advice, taking into account patient's diverse needs.
