The BANES Talking Therapies Service is looking for enthusiastic and motivated qualified High Intensity CBT Therapist to join our dynamic and expanding service to help manage the increasing demand for Step 3 CBT in the area.

Relevant experience and a passion for working with those with mild to moderately severe anxiety and depression is a key requirement of the post.

You will be joining NHS Talking Therapies at an exciting time with expansion across all areas which will open up excellent development opportunities for new and existing members.

Main duties of the job

You should have the relevant NHS Talking Therapies qualification or equivalent and have access to your own transport as you will need to be independently mobile and able to travel to different locations in BaNES.

As well as delivering high quality therapy, we offer the opportunity to become involved in co-facilitating step 3 courses and provide in-house training with additional support to help you develop in this role. We also encourage our therapists to develop specialisms to help with our service delivery.

You will also receive regular supervision and an extensive programme of CPD opportunities to ensure your continued learning and development while you are working as part of a clinical network within a large Mental Health Trust.

Job description

Job responsibilities

Clinical

To allocate approximately 70% of time to direct and indirect clinical which should be predominantly CBT based.

To provide a community mental health service to patients referred by the General Practitioners at the nominated surgery by working flexibly.

When required, to assist with group psychological activity as discussed with the Clinical Lead.

When required, to gather together and organise information about opportunities and resources in the local area which may be of benefit to clients referred to the service (e.g. voluntary and community organisations, educational and recreational opportunities).

When required to participate in liaison meetings with GPs and other members of the Primary Care Health Team, as appropriate.

When required to supervise other staff within the service.

To advise the Clinical Lead about the supervision needs of the staff.

Professional:

When required to participate in the Psychology Service business and professional meetings including Departmental Meetings and other meetings as required.

To be aware of and comply with all policies, procedures and directives of the Trust.

To maintain and further develop high standards of Clinical Psychology and Counselling practice through co-operative work with other Clinical/Counselling Psychologists and Counsellors and involvement in professional audit.

To comply with the Behavioural and Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapy, Counsellors in Primary Care and British Psychological Societys Code of Conduct as well as procedures and government legislation, as it applies to the service.

Clinical Governance

To support the Clinical Lead in the development and implementation of effective Clinical Governance across the Service.

When required to support and participate in multidisciplinary clinical audit in the service.

To promote the use of effective interventions in the service.

To participate in Clinical Governance processes in the Service and in the profession.

General

To participate in liaison meetings with GPs and other members of the Primary Care Health Teams as appropriate.

To participate in audit and personal review activity as required.

To compile and return statistics and activity levels as required.

To undertake such further training as might be required to maintain an appropriate level of expertise.

To participate in individual and peer supervision.

To be aware of and comply with all policies, procedures and directions of the department, service and Trust.

When required to participate in the research activities of the service.

To participate in disseminating good practice by publication and presentation.

To train other staff as appropriate.

Staff in Primary Care Psychology and Counselling Service.

GPs and primary care teams.

Other psychology and counselling colleagues across the Trust.

CMHTs and AMH Psychology staff.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

  • Full accreditation with BABCP or eligibility for BPS/CPC and eligibility for accreditation with BABCP


Experience

Essential

  • Experience of working in an IAPT service so that the post holder is able to work comfortably in a stepped care model of service delivery.


Skills

Essential

  • Mobile with the facility to move quickly across a geographically dispersed area with limited access to public transport.
