A fixed term/secondment for opportunity for 2 years has arisen in the Clinical Support Division for a Project and Service Development Coordinator to lead on the delivery of key Bowel Cancer Screening Projects.

The successful candidate will work as part of a small management team to improve the equity of the service, with a speciality in hard to reach groups, and will be supported by more junior staff in the implementation of specific tasks.

Main duties of the job

The role will facilitate new developments and service improvements to provide a quality service for patients across the Eastern Hub region, to enhance the services and the needs of the users, putting the focus on the patient pathway.

The role requires liaison with all types of stakeholders, as well as writing and presenting key reports.

This is a varied role, that requires supporting the programme and stakeholders to improve the equity of the service, with a speciality in hard to reach groups e.g prisoners, homeless and other groups.

Being able to confidently speak to stakeholders e.g. Commissioners, screening centres, clinical staff and transformation leads is essential.

You will have experience in leading teams of individuals and motivating them to help the delivery of projects and performance indicators. You will be able to work under pressure and work to deadlines, have good communication and negotiation skills, excellent planning, time management and organisational skills. You will be able to prioritise your workload and to delegate your team's workload throughout the day. You must be able to take on additional responsibility when required and be able use initiative to problem solve existing issues and any potential problems that may arise.

A positive, supportive and compassionate attitude towards leadership is essential.

We hold full UKAS Accreditation and staff are required to adhere to strict policies and procedures.

Job responsibilities

The post holder will be responsible for providing Project and Service Development to the BCSP Eastern Hub Management Team. The role includes aspects of operational and performance management as well as service improvement to ensure that the service achieves its performance objectives.

Be competent in the use of the Bowel Cancer Screening Software, and able to contribute to data and reports.

Provide a resource to support project development and project implementation and take a lead for a number of designated projects.

Coordinates the BCSS (IT system) change management procedures.

Contributes to the planning and delivery of the Programme including supporting departmental systems and processes to ensure key objectives and targets are met.

The post holder is expected to ensure that agreed standards and targets are met in their area & represent the Eastern Hub at national meetings as appropriate.

Supports the Director, Hub Manager and Operational Manager in the delivery of Hub services as a member of the Management Team.

Understand and implement initiatives designed to improve services in line with BCSP objectives and nationally agreed targets.

Take a lead on specific projects and provides support to other projects and developments.

Contribute to the planning and implementation of new ways of working nad contribute to the Business Planning process.

Travel when necessary to national and Eastern Programme meetings, representing the Hub.

Human resources

Support and liaise with the Assistant Operational Manager, to ensure a cohesive office management approach.

Participate in the annual management review and ensures commit to personal development.

Maintains (and develops) sound internal communications systems within the Department Framework.

Takes and transcribes minutes at BCSP Hub senior meetings as required and circulate minutes and chase completion of action items

Information resources

Liaises and works with the Information Manager in the implementation and management of information systems within the Programme.

Develop expert knowledge of the BCSP software and provides a training resource to other members of the Hub.

Canvass and identify service improvement suggestions from Eastern Hub service users to the BCSS (IT) System and submit to change management procedure.

Update and action the Hubs BCSS (IT system) issue notification and change requests log as required.

Provide, as necessary, information to support the activity planning and performance monitoring processes of the service.

Audit and Development

Undertake audits of processes and procedures as part of the external accreditation of the management system to UKAS Accreditation standards.

Maintain and develop Standard Operating Procedures and other protocols for administrative tasks in the BCSP Hub according to department policy.
