Main duties of the job
An opportunity has arisen to join our team of Nurses in the Head and Neck Department at our main unit based at Morriston Hospital.
Our Head and Neck Department is a varied surgical unit, providing both out-patient care and surgical care for 5 specialities including ENT, Maxillofacial, Orthodontic and Restorative Dentistry and Cleft Surgery. The unit caters for a large variety of patients and clinics are extremely varied. They can be Consultant, Registrar, Speciality Doctor, Nurse Practitioner or Nurse Led.
The role involves caring for patients in the Head and Neck Department and the successful candidate will become an integral part of a large varied nursing team. The ability to work well as part of a team and on their own initiative is essential.
Experience or an interest in wound care and a willingness to scrub and assist the medical team in surgical procedures is essential. The ability to be calm in stressful situations and to be able to deal with stressed and anxious patients in a calm sensitive manner is also essential.
The successful candidate will be required to mentor students and new staff members and to take charge of the department in the absence of managers
Training and full support will be given.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply. The ability to travel between hospital sites may occasionally be required.
